Hayami-san to Yobareru Hi SP

Japanese title: 早海さんと呼ばれる日 スペシャル
Number of episodes: 2

Some info:
1) DramaWiki
2) Official Site (Japanese)

This is a 2 part special too, but each additional episode is roughly the length of your average drama episode so it works out to be the length of an average TV special (at least among those I watch). Thankfully, there’s not much recap of the main series other than to re-introduce the core characters of the show. That said, the events in the special episodes happen in a time after the end of the main series.

To be honest, it felt more of an extension of the main series, with the style and pacing kept pretty much the same, and with the identical duration of each special episode, it further made feel like additional episodes for the season. The stories and main ‘issue’ in each of these episodes are also not very interesting, in the sense that the development and resolution of these items are very, very predictable, hence there is no element of surprise in this aspect. I guess the only thing left was to see the cast’s performance and whether you get the kind of feeling of family bonds etc during appropriate times. And perhaps maybe the words used in some of the dialogues.

For those who have watched the series, I wouldn’t say watching these 2 episodes would make your life more complete, but perhaps for those who want more of the similar style, it should be a half decent choice. For those who don’t feel like continuing with these specials will not be missing out on much I feel, and I certainly think there will be no more ‘sequels’ or anything like that.
