When I said I will write an entry to cover the movie of the SPEC series, I really meant it. Well, since I watched it on adjacent days and blogged it on another day but both on the same day. If it goes according to plan this will be published exactly 1 day after the Sho entry.

Anyhow, for those who missed the TV special, there’s a *really* quick summary of the main events that happened in the early part of the movie, and the opening starts off with a kind of ‘ending’, and set in a future time. And of course we will be brought back to the time of the TV special’s ending and continue the plot from there. Things are made to look much more serious here though they don’t forget to include some of the humour that we are familiar with in the SPEC series whenever an appropriate opportunity arises.

Things move along quite quickly this time, and perhaps it might actually be too rushed for some as they try to cover all these things in a single movie. If it were to be made as a part of a series it could actually span quite a number of episodes though it still probably won’t be enough to make an entire season. For the most part, it leaves you wondering what the real situation is all about, but in the end there are still many things that are left unexplained, or revealed partially. The ending in particular, strongly indicates a need to explain the gap between the future shown to us and where the movie ended off. From the looks of it, there will be quite a lot of things happening between these 2 points in time of the story’s universe.

Added on by the “no sequel” declaration by the leads right at the end, it makes one wonder if they are using this same ‘trick’ again and we will end up seeing a sequel of sorts in the near future. I wonder if that sequel will be a series or another movie. If it is going to be another big screen production, I certainly hope the pacing will be better, even if it means having a longer movie and that things will be explained (more) adequately this time round especially if it’s going to be rounding up the plot in general. For those who like this series so far, this is a natural pick. But for those who became curious, I believe watching the main series and the TV special first would be more helpful.
