From the little movie poster above, it’s kind of obvious that this movie will be a love story involving this couple. So the thing is to figure out how this story will come about. Well, I must say it includes an element seen in many recent idol-ish movies, which is to include a disease/life threatening illness in one of them. You can make a guess which one is the unfortunate party here. (Will try not to spoil it in subsequent paragraphs as well)
Anyhow, while this (somewhat) cliche element is present in this love story, there are still other things worth looking out for. Like how a new love/relationship can change a person so much in a positive way, kicking bad habits and changing lifestyle for the better. There’s also the part on how to handle and treasure other kinds of relationships such as friends. Of course, to speed things up a little, these changes are kind of fast in my opinion, as opposed to what you would typically expect from most people.
What I like about this movie is that it is not overly mushy or artificially romantic when it comes to the actual love story part. Sometimes simple acts and interactions can also produce a good effect too. I would say that this combination of main leads performed better together than I had expected, in terms of chemistry and the way they interact with each other in the movie.
I have no idea why this is rated NC-16 though. While there is some skin shown (but no nudity at all) and perhaps some slightly more mature things mentioned/done, there’s really nothing serious in my opinion. I must have overlooked something while watching the movie. But one thing is for sure – there is sufficient eye candy moments in the movie. Lol.
Overall, it is a simple love story, sweet but not overly so. It may have some cliche elements but the presentation and execution is fairly good to offset that. The chemistry between the main leads also helped the atmosphere of the movie and it certainly turned out generally well. A pretty decent movie to catch. My take: 6.5/10
p.s. the English title actually makes sense after you watch the movie =)
