Some info @ DramaWiki

Moving back in time a little, I forgotten the reason why this 2002 drama caught my eye but it certainly has been lying around for some time. This story is on the darker side of things, but there are probably slightly darker ones available. One thing to note is that Kimura Takuya actually plays someone who is actually kind of bad in here, something which I have not seen from all other works by him. I guess this turns out to be one of his representative work.

Anyway, the drama being a little old, some things do not look as modern or stylish as they would in recent drama series, but it has a touch of the older generation of Japanese dramas. The presentation style also belongs to the more common type of the older generation of production. That said, it is not going to be a major factor in terms of judging its quality of the show. I would say that the story is generally quite nicely written although there are a few flaws (or loopholes) after everything is said and done. I guess it was written that way to facilitate the intended movement of the plot at the intended pace.

Kimura’s role isn’t all that easy, in the sense that his character had to have the kind of charm that would make women naturally be attracted to and certainly on many occasions he really pulled the charm factor off well. I don’t think there are that many actors during that time and at that kind of age group that can pull it off as well. Of course, apart from looking good there’s also the cold, dark nature of his character as well, which probably required more work here. Haha.

I wouldn’t want to spoil the process of the story development so much here, but I would want to warn those who are looking for nice endings (like most Kimura works) to steer clear of this. After all, this is a dark drama. Well at least the OST is pretty nice, and doesn’t sound that dark either. Overall, I think it is a pretty good drama, though it won’t exactly reach the level of super classic. But at the very least, it is worth a look despite it being quite a number of years old now.
