September’s First

4 09 2011

Yup, it’s me again, with yet another attempt to produce an entry full of text but hopefully not so fluffy this time round. I managed to catch up on my ‘backlog’ for drafting some of the shows I have watched at some point in time earlier this week, but I got lazy and it is beginning to accumulate a little again. In case you’re wondering why there are so many drafts to write, it’s because I have been more on a movie spree (think I mentioned it briefly last week too) recently rather than a drama/anime streak. Lol, the rate of churning out such drafts is slowing down, partly due to laziness and partly due to some slight decrease in interest level. Seeing blogs I know becoming less active (friends or otherwise) isn’t very encouraging in some sense. Lol, and I can imagine once I (eventually) land myself a proper job it would naturally slow down further for obvious reasons, but I will try to maintain this little space as long as I can for the few die-hard supporters. =D

There was a local fighting game tournament last weekend, but to be more accurate it was an invitational/qualifiers to select local representatives for an overseas tournament. I initially contemplated to go down to take a look and support the local growing scene, but due to an unforeseen opportunity I ended up tagging along with Zong to gain some experience and probably getting to the people better for I might need to meet with them again after he relocates himself overseas. I don’t think I am supposed to talk much about it, but I must say that I had learnt quite a number of things and gained some valuable experience and advice which would likely come in handy if I am able to actually apply them in the things I do in the future.

Recently (would be quite a few days by now actually) went to explore NEX properly, since Ken wanted to go there in particular and walk around. Though it wasn’t my first time there, the previous time was a pretty hurried trip and didn’t get to see the other parts of the rather sizable mall. Since I wouldn’t really go explore a shopping mall on my own, might as well. It’s a huge place with lots of shops, featuring a wide range of eating outlets – having 2 different food courts, a big selection of fast food outlets including lesser seen ones (or at least I don’t see them a lot) like Wendy’s (tried this that day. A little pricier than the usual fast food fare but it is overall more filling and tastes not bad.) and Texas Chicken (iirc that’s what it’s called) and of course there are many restaurants of various cuisines. There’s even 2 supermarkets in the same building, Cold Storage and NTUC. I think it’s the first time I’ve seen 2 different supermarket operators in a single mall given my limited knowledge of the local shopping scene here.

Of course, there’s a cinema, a library (didn’t manage to spot it physically or I wasn’t being observant enough) and many other shops covering a wide range of services – arcade, multimedia, electronics, handphones, hair salons, gift shops, clothes, sports apparel, jewellery etc. You name it, they probably have something similar to offer somewhere in the building. It’s no wonder there are so many people at every level. On top of all these that it has to offer, it is located in a region of Singapore which does not have any nearby malls that’s anywhere near the scale of this (if I am not mistaken) and it’s also conveniently located on the NEL and Circle Line. Pretty accessible as well. However, with all that said, it doesn’t really offer anything that I would specially go back there for unless it’s some gathering to be held at that part of Singapore even though I do have a pretty convenient direct bus there.

Anyway, for the moment, it seems that I will have at least 2 outings in this current month. If you ask me, one is more fixed and concrete than the other. No prizes for guessing which belongs to which. Well, that just means there is going to be some expenditure coming soon but the occasion is important enough so I’m not complaining very much (yet?) =) Hopefully whichever one(s) that materalise would become a good outing and I will try to have some blog coverage (yay, some pre-determined content to come?) in the future as well. Probably no pictures though, since I’m not a very picture-y person.

Once again, I am able to produce a pretty lengthy entry here despite not having many significant updates to share. I wrote this entry in parts actually, adding in some content as when I had some willingness and inspiration to do so. Pardon me if you noticed weird jumps or changes in writing style/mood while reading the entry. Just don’t think I am some idiot though I’m still bad at writing, and would likely continue to be so. After all, I’m not actually putting in effort to improve my language. As it is, I am trying hard in preventing it from deteriorating. Heh, and of course, I am usually lacking in proper entry titles and this is yet another living (dead) example. Well then, I think I have had enough for the update this time. Shall save a thing or two for fluffing it up in the future. Meanwhile, the usual (filler) is to be expected till the next time. See you~

p.s. some content actually overlaps with Ken’s earlier entry, but I have actually drafted those paragraphs early… Oh well, hope he doesn’t sue me for bloggyright issues =P
