Ah, another detective/crime theme drama series. The synopsis on DramaWiki is indeed interesting, but things are not quite the way as it is mentioned if you watch enough episodes to realise that. Well, I admit that I was kind of drawn in by the scenario of having this 2-faced detective that acts on both sides of justice (from the lawful perspective).
Yup, he really does go ‘arrest’ criminals who are unable to be legally charged for their crimes and these people just disappear. At the beginning, I thought it would turn out to be a ‘duel’ between the forensic investigator and the detective but I was proven dead wrong not long after. Lol, by then, it was interesting how it would further develop with 2 of the 3 people in the poster being involve in this grey area of justice.
Well, turns out that there is some secret and powerful organisation hiding in the shadows, pulling all the strings if necessary, but of course the existence of this wasn’t revealed until pretty late into the series and not surprisingly not very much concrete details about it was talked about/revealed even when the series ended. It is actually more interesting to see how everything actually works behind the scenes, but I guess it is either not going to be covered, or they might have a sequel, spinoff movie or something in the future, since it seems like the general reception of this show is pretty positive.
As for the special episode, it basically takes place after the conclusion of the series, but it mostly recaps/summarises some of the important events and cases that were covered through out the entire 10 episode series. However, at the very end, it seems that some information about the secret organisation has been dug out. Wonder what they will do with it…
While there are many criminal cases featured in the entire series, they are mostly there to create a criminal who cannot be charged due to flaws/loopholes in the legal system or simply insufficient concrete evidence to be lawfully charged so that he/she can be given a ‘sentence’. Some of the investigations were interesting though. And definitely, some of the unexpected twists/developments in the story really did throw me off track for a while. Nice work there.
Overall, it has been a pretty enjoyable series, though there are some imperfections and minor flaws. If there is going to be a sequel, I would most probably want to continue following it. We’ll see if anything turns up. =D
