Number of episodes: 2

Actually, this is more of a 2 part special rather than a 2 episode drama, but since it was aired on separate weeks, I guess not much difference treating it either way. =P Anyway, from the picture, you can already tell who the important characters are. Horikita Maki and Kuroki Meisa play 2 characters with the same name Tamaki, except that Maki’s character has it as a given name, while Meisa’s character uses it as her family name.

Despite that, it is still the reason how they got an exchange after they bump into each other in office and picked up the wrong mobile phone. Yea, even their mobile phone looks the same on the outside. Lol. But this really sets it up for the real big chance that Maki’s character probably wouldn’t be able to get hold of given how her character is in the show. Lol.

Each part is roughly the length of an average J drama episode, so yup, there isn’t really that much content in this 2 part special. In fact, it’s just a really simple story with some lightheartedness and meaningful messages in it. Nothing exceptional, nothing too horrible. Haha, the kind of show you can just sit back and watch through without having to look out for minor details or anything. Easy to digest. =)

p.s. the music selection for the specials was not bad. =D

[CMV] Just Another CMV

Haha, I was quite surprised by the title of this CMV. Just in case you are wondering, this CMV has nothing to do with my blog, other than me typing an entry on it on my own accord right now. Ok, and perhaps I did get to see a small portion of the combos and bugs presented in the video earlier on, without knowing it was actually meant for this particular CMV.

Combos wise, it does contain quite a lot of nice stuff, ranging from cool bugs (that may be used in combos), improvements to widely seen combos as well as some new setups. Coming from the participating members, it’s a kind of assurance of a certain (high) standard. Hehe, games they cover go beyond KOF too, with the inclusion of a few Capcom games as well as other SNK fighting games. I particularly like how the Challenge Mode part, and I actually thought there would be more than 1, since it’s really shown as Challenge #1. Haha, I found it quite a refreshing idea to be put into a CMV. The way it was presented was also nicely done. =)

Editing wise, it is mostly quite the simple approach, with some additions of effects and graphics to make the video look better. Most of the emphasis is still on the content after all, which is definitely not a bad thing. While kept simple, the flow and feel was right, which is actually the most important thing about editing a video (something that I totally lack =P).

Another CMV worth a watch or two, or more if you need more tries at seeing/figuring out what actually happened =D

[CMV] Kaleidoscope

kaleidoscope

Another project that was in the works quite long ago, so long that I forgot the time period when the preview was first released. An upload on YouTube shows June 2008, so it’s probably around then, or even earlier. Haha, I thought it was put aside or totally abandoned because there were other projects that were already released prior to this one. Heh.

While it does contain some older combos (seeing that it was already present in the preview), this CMV offers some newer KOF combos, featuring quite a few nice setups and conditional combos. Some combos required a second viewing before I got hold of the things that were going on, as it can be quite chaotic with all the conditional setups. As with many CMVs, there’s the usual flaw – which is using more power stocks than possible under normal conditions (including use of bugs) though in some cases I can tell it’s to have a slightly nicer ending.

Editing wise, it is generally quite nicely done, with effects and extra graphics to add some glitter and visual impact to the video. But for those slightly more complex conditional combos, they might hinder the viewing experience, or maybe I lack the eye of true sight to see through all the effects and conditional setups =P

Overall, it’s a nice CMV worth a watch or two. =)

Street Fighter IV: The Ties That Bind

27 07 2009

Japanese title: ストリートファイターIV 新たなる絆
Number of episodes: 1 (OVA)

Some info:

Haha, recently into SF4, so I decided to just take a look at the OVA too, which was actually first released some months back. It isn’t a very long OVA, only lasting some 65 minutes, but it tries to give many of the prominent fighters some screen time which makes it seem kind of short.

Well, storyline wise, it’s mainly about S.I.N. and Seth’s ambitions and plans. This incident manages to involve many of the SF characters, from those in the military/intelligence force like Cammy, Guile, Chun Li etc, to top-rate fighters like Ryu, Ken etc. Not surprisingly, the target Seth really wants is actually Ryu because of his potential powers.

I suppose it’s just a simple episode to just roughly make a short presentation out of the Street Fighter 4 storyline. In fact, if one watches the opening and endings of the various characters in the game itself, the OVA might serve as a slightly better way to link up the various characters’ storyline in which the game only gives a short glimpse of each character.

Nothing very much to look out for. Just watched it for some kind of completeness. Haha. The game is definitely more fun than the OVA. =P
