Come to think of it, I had no idea why I began watching this decade and half old series. Perhaps I was looking for a sports based series and this happened to pop up. Lol, it’s also a pretty long series, which gives more time for development but also means more time needed to finish it up. Heh.
The summary on wikipedia is really brief, but it really does cover the important points in the story as well as the important things that one should know about the soccer team. I felt that the beginning half of the show was much better, until the death of Kubo, where it probably got a little too emotional and all for me.
Well, like many sports-based anime, it tends to be a little more exaggerating in the sense that their level of gameplay is, I think, too high for their age group, though it is also mentioned in the series. For the most part it’s still quite believable except for a few “special moves” which I think are the ones that are really exaggerating. Lol.
Considering it’s an old anime, it’s inevitable that the graphics and all look a lot less impressive than the usual fare you see around these days. Also, there also seems to be more of reused scenes and animation, perhaps it’s nothing too unusual, especially in the sports genre.
Overall, I found the earlier parts of the show more enjoyable, maybe due to the story really being in the development phase where there are quite some interesting points to how the story went on, as compared to the back. Not too bad a series I suppose, except that you really have to accept the old-ish animation style and all.
