The voice in this drama refers to the voice of the deceased, and these 5 people play the roles of university students who are in the forensic medicine stream. Needless to say, there’ll be quite a number of dead bodies, but don’t worry, there’s no gross images or anything. In fact, that isn’t the focus of the show. The focus is on conveying the dying message of the people, being able to find this “voice” and able to let the people who are left behind know of these wishes/messages.
Of course, by doing an autopsy as well as analysing the various things such as blood samples, injuries found etc, much more about how the person died can be “formulated”. However, the main lead, Daiki (played by Eita) is an ultra curious person who always likes of why things have happened that way and ends up investigating each case by himself (such a carefree student… haha). Very often, each episode is about him trying to uncover the truth behind the entire incident, and often it leads to making the dead look good in the sense that when these people died, they were still thinking of/looking out for others.
After a while, the formula is quite “standard”, but at least each time it’s quite a different story, even with people that are related to the other students. Of course, he is not alone in this quest to discover the truth. The other students were initially apprehensive of his curiosity, but later slowly appreciates the meaning behind doing all that and also joined in to help out whenever they could.
Yeah, of course, it’s not just about the various cases. Time is also spent on the students’ journey in this field of medicine, for not all of them are naturally talented or chose to be in this field and often meet with difficulties and obstacles. The professor will provide some timely and appropriate advice to his students, in hope that they will not waste their potential and give up on this path.
The drama ends with them heading for different goals, though most of them are still in the field in one way or another. Unfortunately, the admiration and love Kanako (played by Ishihara Satomi) has for Daiki doesn’t turn into anything more. Haha. To some, this might be the biggest bummer of the entire series, especially during some of the scenes in the last episode. =X
On a side note, the theme song of the show became quite popular in Japan, although I think it never did hit the top of the charts. Actually I’ve heard of the song before I started on this drama. Lol. Wonder if it was because of this drama that the single became even more popular. Shrugs…
Overall, it’s a pretty nice drama, although some parts are just too nice and smooth to be true. Haha. It’s probably one of the dramas that you can watch if you’re looking for something. =)
