Starring some of the more popular artistes in Japan, this series received quite a lot of attention, and in fact ended up doing quite well in their Television Awards. However, I somehow didn’t quite find the main storyline as interesting and entertaining as the supposedly “side cases”.

To talk more about that, I’ll need to introduce a bit more about the characters and the story. It’s about these 3 orphaned kids who had their parents murdered when they were young, some a decade and a half ago. The police were unable to find the culprit even after such a long time, and all along they had the aim of finding the murderer and punish him (or her) themselves. Actually, the 3 of them aren’t actually real siblings – the brothers were from the Dad’s previous marriage, and the sister from the Mom’s previous marriage. But I don’t think it matters that much when it comes to their desire of seeing the culprit being punished, or at least I didn’t get the feeling that it mattered very much from the show. In fact, because they had to be without their parents since young, they have formed a bond that’s possibly closer than many real siblings would have.

Since both the children and the police are without any clues to the culprit since there were no fingerprints or anything useful left behind that could lead them anywhere, the show doesn’t really go into the main storyline that much for the earlier parts of the show. It was used more for the background and history of what happened back then as well as showing the various kids in their present grown up lives. The side cases I was talking about above refer to the fraud cases the trio pull off to plot revenge against some of the people who have crossed their paths and sort of messed up their lives, or simply helping their friends to get back at “baddies”. Lol, personally I found these parts more hilarious and entertaining than the main storyline, but it couldn’t gone on for too long as it’s not the main point of the show.

Finally, while pulling off another fraud, they finally stumble on to some lead that could possibly point to the real culprit, which is how the main story is brought back into the series. From this part on, it really focused on the main plot. As they went further into the investigation, it became more obvious who the real culprit was as clues were dropped here and there. When the old man started telling his story, it became quite clear who the culprit was even before it was “officially” revealed, just that I couldn’t figure out the reason why until it was explained by the culprit himself. Lol, that’s probably like the biggest thing that made me curious at the end. =X

Overall, it is a pretty nice show, but I feel it’s not as outstanding as it seems to be from the viewership rating as well as the number of awards won. Oh well, it’s still not that bad to watch lah. =)
