It seems that I’ve picked up quite a few of medical-related dramas recently and this happens to be first to be reviewed. While it is a drama falling into the medical genre, there isn’t really that much of jargons and big words to handle though there’s still some every now and then. Also, it does not put so much emphasis on the leet skills the main doctor has (unlike in Iryu. lol). The reason is because the drama is centred around the bonds between doctors, nurses and patients as well as the community hospital facing troubles of total re-organisation and finally threat of being shut down all together.

As such, it is not at all surprising to find quite a number of emotional scenes throughout the entire series. Sometimes it can cause the drama to move a little too slowly, as well as the overly dramatic and emotional scenes that kinds of backfired on the intended effects, or maybe it’s just me who’s getting less and less tolerant of such things. Lol. But well, they did address some issues that seems to be of realistic value although I don’t know how much of the typical trend(s) they talk about in the show is truly the case in the present day Japan.

The show often touches on one’s (job) ideals vs reality-forced circumstances and has approached it on a number of occasions through different people each time. But of course, the main focus will be on the important people who have the most screen time/influence over the show. It is mostly handled quite well in my opinion, giving the show the kind of setting and dimension it needs in order to bring forward the intended effect.

The pairing of Takenouchi Yukata and Kanno Miho is a fresh combination for me, especially since I have watched very little of either’s past roles and performances. They do somewhat have the chemistry to bring this show together, but I’m not referring to any kind of romance, but rather the way they work together as a doctor/nurse pair.

Overall, I think this drama will be one of those less picked up by many due to the nature of the storyline, but I think it’s generally pretty good show with morals worth learning. It’s only at some parts where they overdo the dramatic parts as well as overlooking some logical parts on how an understaffed, failing hospital can afford to have “gatherings” just to be there to witness some event or something. Heh. Go pick this show up if you’re interested =)

p.s. this entry was drafted quite late at night and my subconscious is telling me there are some parts quite horribly written, but I can’t be bothered to edit it. Lol. Try to make sense of it k? =P
