During its advertising period and seeing the trailers from various sources (cinema, TV etc), I thought this movie had potential since it’s somewhat different from the usual movies that deal with assassinations.

The highlight of the show should be the presentation of the assassination scenario through the perspectives of various more important witnesses of the event. As such, you can expect the entire event to be “replayed” several times, so some people might actually be sick of it, seeing the same event from various angles etc. However, I think the movie has done quite a decent job in giving audience something to look forward to with every “replay”, as it often contains a new (unexplained) element to the entire incident, which will eventually be pieced together, with the help of the final “terrorist plan” perspective.

However, once the mystery is fully unveiled and the pursuit for the parties responsible begins, the magical thing that kept me interested in the show is suddenly lost and the movie reverts itself to an ordinary (& simple) cop-catch-criminal show. In fact, with the last perspective, an attentive and careful viewer will be able to piece together the various clues and make an intelligent guess of the outcome even before it is presented on-screen. This effect is actually kinda bad since it’s the exact opposite effect of what the movie tried to build up earlier on.

Story aside, I think the way the movie is presented is at least different from most other movies, which is good news for those who have watched a considerable number of movies in this genre. It cleverly gives only 1 or 2 new things for viewers to think about before it switches to another perspective. I guess much planning and post-production are needed in order to achieve such an effect, not to mention the filming from various angles to make as few continuity errors as possible. Lol.

Overall, it’s a good attempt at trying to present using different perspectives and adding a little more clues to the audience each time, but in the end it kind of lacks the bang to wrap up the show. If not for the more interesting perspective presentation, this movie would have probably be a heck lot worse. My take: 6/10
