After taking brief look at the wiki article about the original Marvel character Punisher, I realise there are some differences in this movie adaptation of its comic counterpart. However, the main ideas are still the same such as the fact that The Punisher is just a normal human being without possessing any special powers like many other Marvel characters do.

Similar to the comics, The Punisher’s family was also brutally murdered though in a different place under slightly different scenarios, but nonetheless the death of his entire family is the triggering cause for him to become “The Punisher”. In this movie, he is also well-trained, just that he’s a cop instead of a military veteran. However, he was considered an elite in the force before he turned into his Punish-ing ways.

For his revenge plans, it is also nicely shown some of the thoughts and planning he has put into to ensure that all these will go smoothly without having much hiccups. Well, of course, one could easily expect the ending to be that the criminals responsible were duly “punished” by the man himself. In particular I thought the end scene showing the skull pattern after the series of explosions looked kinda nice. Haha. Can’t imagine they NG for that since cars need to be on fire. Haha.

As he has become somewhat fanatic after the loss of his entire family, his actions towards the criminals responsible for that loss are somewhat more violent and brutal as well. However, the general outlook of the movie in terms of graphic violence isn’t as much as some of the films I’ve watched though the overall feel kinda warrants a rating higher than NC16 imo. Haha. Other important traits as I’ve come across while glancing through the main wiki article are also clearly shown in the movie so I guess the retention of the character is quite nicely done in general.

There also seems to be quite many errors, especially continuity errors according to MovieMistakes, but I only managed to spot some on my own. Sometimes I really wonder how all those people actually find these mistakes, even for those not-so-obvious ones. Heh.

Overall, it was pretty decent and nice. My take: 6/10.
