Interestingly, this gundam series takes place in a timeline that actually “relevant” to us (instead of UC or whatever), though it’s some 300 years later. Lol, at least it’s something “refreshing” for a change. Haha.
Well, basically the world splits into 3 main factions, as the anime will describe their respective make-up. Each of these factions control a orbital (space) elevator. Together with the full reliance on solar power, this new trend only really benefits those in power while the struggling nations are often left to civil wars or some other kind of conflicts and is especially bad in the traditional oil-exporting nations. To end all these conflicts and wars, A private military organisation (Celestial Being) intervenes and aims to end all wars by declaring “war” on all those who start/instigate a conflict/war.
Of course, the Celestial Being has the best mobile suits, namely Gundam, and their actions are watched (and hated) by many around the world. The development of the story wasn’t as straightforward as I thought, but oh wells, it still turns out to be somewhat foreseeable towards the end. However, I don’t have much inkling as to how season 2 will develop since I didn’t really go put much thought into it. Heh, just wait for them to air then watch lor. =P
On a side note, I wonder if the portrayal of the various leaders and other political/global events have any underlying meanings behind them. Heh. Ah well, maybe it’s too add a dimension of realism in it lah. Hor? =D
Hmm, not surprisingly, this anime was aired in high definition, which is really common nowadays. However, it’s the first for the Gundam series (any universe) to have it aired in HD. Yeap, that means you get to see all the nice MS and other mechs in crystal clear picture quality. So rox =)
Now, let’s wait for season 2!!! =D Ah well, it’ll only start airing sometime in October.
