Finally, the wait is over! The long awaited KOF99 combo video that teams up 4 well-known groups in the KOF community, namely Cyberfanatix, KOFDestiny, Y-AV and 99 Combo Union. The preview clip for this first came out last September, so it has been some good 8 months before the full version came out.
Somehow, the combos in the video still look pretty nice even though it took such a long time for this video to be produced. Normally in such similar circumstances, it would have been already imitated/modified in other CMVs. I guess not that many KOF99 videos floating around kind of helped, though there are still combos in the video that looked similar in terms of ideas/concepts in other videos. Can’t be helped I guess, since it took such a long time to produce the video.
Well, as I had expected before watching this movie, the combos indeed contain lots of interrupts, “co-operation” from “opponent” and of course, very specific set-ups that probably have very little room for compromise. It’s almost the only way one can think of new combos for kof99, since conventional methods are more or less explored very in-depth. As such, the combo makers sure spent a lot of effort getting the positioning, set-ups etc right. Most of them will probably be beyond me since I don’t have enough skill to execute so many things with just 2 hands. Haha… might spend some time trying to emulate a few of those that I think I can pull off, just for the fun of it.
Editing wise, it’s done by iori240, with Kyorex assisting him. Those who have watched CMVs that Cyberfanatix/KOFDestiny have produced will most likely have seen at least a couple of those editors’ work. Yea, so you can expect nice editing along with eye candy combos for a nice experience while watching the video. Not overly flashy, but certainly some people will be put off (as always) by such editing styles. Hahaha. Oh, there are some typos or spelling errors in the video, which is possibly the biggest blemish you can find in the video. Hehe.
Oh well, if you’re a KOF99 fan, this video is a must-see. If you’re a KOF combo fanatic, this is also a must-see. Lol.
