This show is apparently based on a popular manga (do they call it manga in Korea?) and indeed, there’s a small section in the movie where the presentation style is that of a comic, with the use of boxes and video footages in them, and moving from 1 box to another, as if reading from a comic book. I thought that was pretty nicely done.
Well, the story starts with the main lead being accused of poisoning some judges who are to decide which chef should be the rightful person to take over the restaurant because of inappropriate handling of blowfish (highly poisonous ok…). He decided not to be a competitive chef anymore until someday his rival approaches him to become his assistant in an upcoming cooking competition. It was then that the main lead decided to enter the competition (previously he was super reluctant to do so), and that’s the main highlight of the show.
Well, there are various rounds in the competition, and you’ll see the rival doing all sorts of underhand stuff, because he knows he’s not as good as the other guy. Even the incident shown at the start was his fault. Lol. From this point on, it’s more of how despicable he can get, and how the main lead tries to make his way through using orthodox method, with a little help from the female lead too.
Not surprisingly, the show ends with the good triumph over the bad. I guess it could only end that way didn’t it? Haha, anything else would have been rather unacceptable anyways. Hic. In the end, the baddie’s own ways made his downfall happen, which is kinda trying to tell people not to do bad things else it’ll backfire on you someday? Haha.
Pretty nice show, though in some aspects you could say that it’s really ordinary. My take: 6/10. Well, there’s niceness in being ordinary at times. Hah.
p.s. don’t watch this movie on an empty stomach.

Oh by the way there’s a second movie coming out based upon the same manhwa as this was such a successful hit in korea and internationally.
