This 25 episode anime series created quite a buzz in part of the community, and I can understand why after watching it (besides the point that it aired after Code Geass which I’ve reviewed before). It’s rather interesting, as it looks rather simple and straightforward when there’s actually a lot of hidden mysteries and loads of question marks as I watched through the show. Most of the mysteries aren’t even revealed much until the very end, and some of it still requires some thinking and pondering to understand what’s going on. Sheesh, sometimes this time travel thing can be quite a pain.
Anyway, some of the more interesting things in the show would be like for example, the renumeration of the Contractors after using their powers (for whatever reason). There’s all sorts of weird ways to “pay back”, and some of them really will want to make you think twice before using your powers. Kinda more interesting in the sense that these powered-up people can’t happily use their powers without suffering some kind of consequences though they usually do use the powers anyway since they have to fight or carry out their missions.
Well, for more details, you can either watch the show, or read the Wiki article. The latter seems to be rather detailed based on the the kind of articles I’ve seen so far for the anime series I’ve reviewed. The story’s pretty interesting so I don’t really want to spoil it here. Haha. I’ll just include some comments about other stuff below. Lolz.
Oh by the way, the anime was aired in 720P, so yeah that’s great news for me, and of course good for the eyes (enjoy the graphics etc). I also noticed there’s quite a few brand logos appearing quite often, probably sponsors of the show as well. Normally, it’s usually something very close to the real company with their logo slightly modified. Well, it applies for some of the cars featured, but for Pizza Hut, I’ve seen the actual logo quite a few times throughout the show. Bah, I even notice such things for anime now. This is bad. Lols.
As for the OPs and EDs, they’re pretty nice too. OP1 being sung by abingdon boys school, who is kinda on the rise in terms of popularity in Japan (and probably outside it too). I guess it’s another case of a music group/artiste becoming more well-known after performing the OP/ED of a well-received anime. OP2 is sung by An Cafe, but I don’t really know who they are until I looked it up at ANN/Wiki. Carrying on the style of OP1, I found that the 2nd OP suited the theme pretty well too. I guess the OPs were meant to perk people up for the general “intensity” of the story and nature.
Now for the EDs, the first would be Tsukiakari by Rie Fu. I’m sure she’s not a stranger to those who have watched enough anime (actually titles such as Bleach would be sufficient). Another quality song by her, though I had to rely on the karaoke to appreciate the lyrics. Hehz. ED2 would be titled Dreams, by High and Mighty Color. Once again, another group that made it big (kinda) through anime OP and ED (notably through Gundam Seed Destiny). Not so high tempo song from them this time, since the EDs seem to be more of an emotional song, showing a softer/lighter side of this anime.
p.s. I have no idea why this anime review is so long (well, longer than my average anime review) this time. Biasedness? Judge for yourself =D
