Ah, into the last “trilogy” of the Tougeki ‘07 series now. This “trilogy” features somewhat old-school 2D fighting games, and coming up first is Street Fighter III 3rd Strike. Thanks to KOFIA for providing these videos. =D
As usual it’s split into 3 segments, 32-16, 16-8 and 8-1. Lots of 3rd strike action definitely, which is good for the fans isn’t it. Well, as with most years, participants compete in teams of 3, following similar rules to that of GGXX AC tournament.
Top 32-16: Didn’t really get to see the full members of each team back here, since some teams won using 1 or 2 players only. Haha, so it’s hard to say who will win, though the better players could be spotted. Also saw some familiar names because they take part yearly or something I think. So I knew those folks won’t be kicked out that early unless they’re really unlucky or off form that day. Hehz, some very nice matches here, though it’s not gonna be as exciting as the next few sections. Well, 1 thing I do notice is that Yun is on every team, so heh. After all, he’s a top tier character (if I’m not mistaken). Only yah, there was 1 match where Akuma won using 天. Doesn’t happen very often I think. Hahaha.
Top 16-8: Hmm, with teams cut down by half, the competition is getting more and more intense with some magnificent display by Akuma in a few matches. Very nice, totally enjoyed it. And yeah, the teams I thought that would go through mostly proceed to the quarter-finals. =)
Top 8-1: Wah, here there’s even more exciting matches. Makoto was stunning at the very end. Woohoo~ Won both matches after stunning the opponent. Very nicely played out with mind games. The runner-up team did well too, considering their past performances to make it to the finals, but I guess they just weren’t good enough this year. Yeah at least 1 of the members is a regular at this tournament so probably we’ll see more of him appearing in Tougeki ‘08.
