Continuing the 3D fighting game “trilogy” is Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection. Credits go to KOFIA for putting up this series of videos.
Yeap, teams still battle in groups of 3, following the format similar to the other games competing in with a similar team line-up. Also, there are Korean teams (at least 2) which are invited to participate in this tournament, but unfortunately, both of them were eliminated at the semi finals stage. Nin (2005 winner for Tekken 5, solo tournament back then) was part of one of the Korean teams, and I could tell the Japanese was so happy to have defeated Nin. Heh, must have been something good since Nin became well-known after 2005 Tougeki since his Steve made many of his opponents back then looked quite… erm, haha. Oh wells, there have been some fixes to Steve in the DR version, but nonetheless Nin still did well for his team, the best player in his team imo. Even I as a non Tekken player can remember his name (or nick). Goes to show how shocking his first appearance in Tougeki was…
Well, the winning team can be seen from the picture (as always). It was a close fight though, which this team nearly losing the game when battling with the opposing team’s 2nd character. Oh well, as usual a little luck and calm approach in various (tight) situations are also key factors besides having a good foundation of VS skills. Haha.
Well along the way, there’s more than 4 hours of video footage to cover (wah…) and it definitely comprises of various kinds of matches. From the pwning to the close calls, they have it all, with a variety (yet not really that varied) of characters. Quite many “perfect” rounds were seen throughout the tournament, which makes me further believe 3D fighting game is much more unpredictable than 2D fighting games. Heh.
Well for Tekken 5 DR players and fans, this tournament is sure to be worthwhile for all of you with so much content and things to learn from. Whee.
