Moviemistakes Entry
Yah exam weeks over liao, so got chance to go back to the cinema and watch movies. Well, seems like the year-end and early ‘08 has quite a few titles that I may end up watching, so perhaps my little blog here will be flooded with more movie reviews than usual (or maybe not).
Anyway, the movie started with some kind of brief history of the situation between Saudi and US and other middle eastern countries of sorts, before relating to the beginning of the story, which shows how terrorists from Saudi execute a planned attack on Westerners living in their own area in Riyadh. Some of the things are actually quite explicit, like a suicide bomber (dressed in Saudi army uniform) asking people to come to him for shelter when there’s shooting elsewhere to get more people around him before blowing himself up.
Well, the broad daylight terror attack wasn’t the only one, since there was one later in the night when rescue workers arrived at the scene. The scene left behind after that is quite a sight to hold actually. The remnants are indeed in bits and pieces and things just strewn all over the place. Even the nearby building appears to be shambles. Quite nicely done I thought, but I’m pretty upon further scrutinisation there will be many shortcomings and flaws.
Anyway, Special Agent Ronaldo Fleury (played by Jamie Foxx) finds a way to get himself and his small team into Saudi to search for evidence, and possibly pointing to the mastermind behind this terror attack. Well it’s only after they arrive on site that the main part of the story develops further. I’ll leave the details out here (lazy).
I kinda liked the character of Colonel Faris (Saudi army Colonel that is). Pretty funny at times, and cool too. Kinda sad that he had to die in the end though. Well, at least he died a hero.
About the violence, I don’t think it’s very much leh. Other NC-16 movies can be more violent and explicit with all the blood and gore. Oh wells, I guess it’s not suitable for PG. Maybe Singapore should have a PG-13? Nah, think a lot of people will flame me over that =X
This movie is pretty ordinary I guess, though the political and possibly religious issues subtlely portrayed in the movie may have a deeper meaning. Or maybe it’s just plain biasedness at work (cos it’s an American production?). Oh wells, it’s quite a watchable movie, though there are blockbusters such as Golden Compass, Warlords coming up. My take: 6/10
p.s. I’ve finally completed Rumble Fish 2 with Boyd. That leaves Bazoo (for non-unlockable characters, thanks to Jubilee ZoneX)
p.p.s I’ve updated my Kakuro record to 50s. Lol, can it go any lower?! Time will tell.
