Wiki says this is a show loosely-adapted from Romance of the 3 Kingdoms, but to me, it seems like only the setting and main characters share the same name as the original story. Not that I’m very well-versed (in fact I know quite little), but this 25 episode anime is definitely not quite what the original story is.
Of course, there are still “correct” stuff in the show, like 刘备,张飞,关羽 are sworn brothers. But, somehow in the show, 赵云 is made to seem to be quite cunning and sinister, quite contrary to the chivalrous impression I have of him. Lol. Oh yeah, 诸葛亮 is also rather scheming and manipulative in the show. Kinda weird lah overall. Viewers who know Romance of the 3 Kingdoms well will probably be quite put off by the show I guess, since there’s like quite little references to actual story.
Anyway, this series seems to be high fantasy-based. Some artifact that can grant people magical powers that make them sort of superhuman, being able to fly, gain supreme strength and whatnot. Doesn’t fit into the picture of the warring Era in my opinion. I wonder what Chinese (China) viewers will think when they watch this show. Lol, maybe most of them give up after like a few episodes. Hic.
Besides that, the show isn’t very interesting in its own right anyway. Sometimes the “brotherly love” thing is too emo for my liking, and the story’s progress isn’t all that interesting too. Most of it would be our dear 孔明’s plans and schemes to make certain events happen in the order that he wishes for. Ah well, in the end there’s a short “explanation” as to why he does all that. At least he’s a “good guy” in the end, though 赵云 is like kinda bad from e start till end. Hohum.
Basically, I don’t recommend that any of you watch this show. Find something nicer to watch. Haha. I think many of you would find this tooo boring anyway. Lolz.
p.s. i hate discrete. i hate discrete. bleah.
