Japanese title: 劇場版BLEACH [ブリーチ] MEMORIES OF NOBODY
Some info:

2) Wiki
3) ANN
This is a standalone movie, spinoff from the hit anime series Bleach. Apparently the wiki article says it’s set immediately after Ichigo saves Rukia in Soul Society. Sounds kind of misleading since if I remember correctly, Rukia needs some rest to recover after that whole arc. I do agree it’s set during the time frame of the Bounto arc though.
This movie is only a mere 90 minutes, yet it tries to give almost every important character, including the members of the squads and their captains some screen time. Obviously, this results in the movie being rushed at certain parts, and many “un-needed” scenes.
The plot summary on wiki sums up the storyline of this less-than-impressive movie. The story’s pretty ok, something like filler standard, but it’s just that 1.5 hours is not enough to cover everything properly and there’s a need to rush here and there. Perhaps this is one of the shortcomings of having spinoff movies from long anime series that require a huge amount of episodes in order to cover a decent story (with fighting time included). Thus, I usually don’t go expecting very much from such movies. Makes it less of a put off while watching.
Yah, like I mentioned earlier, too many people are forced to appear, probably to satisfy certain groups of fans. Though some only make some sort of cameo appearance with a couple of lines, many of them actually end up fighting alongside our main character in the Valley of Screams. While it does seem practical to end the story in the given time limit (1 hour according to estimate in the show), with so many captains, vice-captains and what-have-you, it’s kind of an overkill. Most baddies die within seconds after “Bankai!” is announced. Kinda lame if you ask me. Really just for the sake of letting viewers see the Bankai effect siah. Haha.
Well, at least the ending theme song for the movie is nice. I guess that’s how Aqua Timez became well-known in Japan. The wonders of anime and the things it can do for singers/groups/bands who want to have a foothold in the ever-changing Jpop industry. The lyrics are quite meaningful (there’s karaoke, so yeah can see the english translation of the lyrics). The group even have a opening song of Bleach (series) to their portfolio, so yeah they’re quite okay bah.
Overall, it’s quite a typical standard for spinoff movies based on successful anime series, usually those longer running ones. There are quite a few flaws, as mentioned above but overall it’s still quite acceptable, since fillers are sometimes worse than that. Haha. Watch this if you want.

I think its quite a good movie, beats the shit outa naruto movie’s, naruto movie’s are so boring, this actually has a good story, but the bad guys were pretty lame, and ichigo was able to cut one’s arm off, and after that he parry’d evrything ichigo swinged, pretty lame..
I think this movie is totally lousy. It’s just to satisfy fans to see everyone’s bankai. If the bankai is so powerful, then during the intial contact they could have finished some of them off isn’t it? The ending is so typical that I knew Ichigo will win. And guess what, the style is the same. Going to lose, going to die, somehow Ichigo in the final strike can defeat the (more) superior enemy.
I do hope the other one is much better. Judging by the supposed plot, it should be better, as long as they don’t try to satisfy fans by bankaing everyone.
in some ways, the approach is similar to naruto, just that this movie really made A LOT of important characters appear. yeah well, their power moves HAVE TO come out, just like in naruto.
i think such anime (actually manga) stories are actually quite hard to come up with awesome movies. just avoiding utter disappointment is good enough. Lol.
Haha yeah. Hmm. Evangelion was a good movie. I know there’s the anime, but not sure got manga. I think got right? Yeah. What I feel is that perhaps the characters have some space to develop. There is not much need to put so many captains up with so little screen time. Even if we want to put captains, we can just let them fight in the background. Too many of them fight and take up screen time and hence everyone gets v little screen time.
evangelion movies are a remake (retelling) of the anime series, not it’s not a standalone like bleach and naruto movies we’re talking about. not exactly very fair comparison :D
hmm..what I meant is that style of presentation would be good. If Bleach could end up with that same pace and character development, it would be good too.
that style of presentation is kinda difficult for a standalone movie. furthermore, eva’s and bleach’s styles are quite different, even if u use bleach’s original storyline as comparison…
haha… standalone (spinoff) movies from long successful manga (anime) stories tend to suffer…
Well, simply put, there is much room for development. My main grouse was that there is too many characters. In a way, yes, considering that Eva is just the anime version of the manga, it plays a huge part. Character development is much better than this Bleach movie. In a way, this Bleach movie is more of a movie for existing fans, not a movie for anyone who wants to watch an animation movie. Bleach could focus more on specific characters too. Memories of nobody is quite an interesting concept and plot and can definitely be a great standalone movie. I do look forward to The Diamond Dust Rebellion. Judging from the 1 chapter manga promo of the story, it looks set to be a better plot. This time, hopefully they just focus on the main characters, that is Ichigo and gang + Hitsugaya and Matsumoto. That will be great and everyone will have nice screen time. Eva could be a standalone movie too, they just need to find a nice way to the movie. But of course it couldn’t since it’s a remake of the anime version.
Erhm question eventhough its an standalone movie if you started the series at wich episode would it be nice to watch?
episode 1 of course.
haha jiahao your answer is straightforward but true. Don’t watch at episode 1 means miss out all the explanation. Bleach is truly best to start at 1, but can miss the bounto arc since its a filler.
k im at eps 57 atm i think il watch after 60
