Didn’t know this 26 episode series is the third installment of Bee Train’s “girls with guns” trilogy until I read the wiki article. Well, didn’t really watch the previous 2 titles, but I guess it doesn’t really matter since it’s just related in terms of genre and style etc.

However, do not go expecting lots of gun fights though it’s a “girls with guns” series, supposedly. There are some lah, but they aren’t that fantastic also. Storyline wise, it’s more interesting (i guess). The story really follows the 2 main characters’ journey and the incidents that they meet with and how their bond grows stronger with each passing episode (hmm, sounds cliche?). Ok lah, details regarding Ellis’ past is only slowly revealed and how Project Leviathan is related to the entire show was the main reason I continued watching this. Lol.

Each character is also given time to develop its personality and uniqueness in the show, and I think they’ve done pretty well, though there are still some mysteries over some of the more important characters. It’s all thanks to the various incidents they go through as they travel towards the South, in search of some place that will supposedly unlock/answer the mysteries/questions that have been bugging them (and the audience).

The ending’s pretty normal imo, though i’ve seen many worse ones around. Hehz. Actually the story kinda ended at ep 25, but oh well, ep 26 is just there to tie up some minor things and end the series with some “open-ended”-ness. Perhaps there’ll be OVA or 2nd season next time? Shrugs…

Story aside, one of the more outstanding points would be its soundtrack. I find that the music used in the show is generally quite good, and kinda sets the mood for the things that are happening. Besides that, I think the artwork is pretty nice and neat, and nothing much to complain about. Heh. I suppose they make sure they do a good job for anime that airs with 720p resolution.

Overall, it’s quite an ok watch. Catch it if you want.
