6, 6, 6…

19 10 2007

This entry will be about things that are related to the number 6, and is relevant to me these few days. A quick glance at the entry and you will find that there’s no picture or video to make things look a little less boring. So if you choose to continue reading on, I can’t promise there’ll be some kind of coherent flow in writing etc etc. You’ve been warned.

First up - a few days ago, my blog has already reached an age of 6 months, with an average of 1 post per day. There are other stats about my blog that I could share right now, but I guess I’ll leave it to when it reaches its first anniversary. In fact, I’m quite surprised that I can actually maintain such an active blog, which I have not done in my previous 2 blogs. It’s actually quite fun to blog nowadays. Don’t know why though. Perhaps it’s a way of de-stressing from the school work that I so dislike, or a way to keep in touch with the language, though I admit my standard of English is still deteriorating. Maybe I should blog in Chinese once in a while too, since I really lack exposure to the language these days.

These past 6 months have been quite fun, and I learnt quite a few things from things related/on my blog. 1 good example would be the header picture of this blog. Though I agree that it’s quite badly done, I’ve learnt things like ripping background stages, and sprites. I need to work on my editing though, which I feel needs quite some amount of experience along with some technical support in order to achieve a certain level of competency decency. I’ve also written my first FAQ, though it’s far from completion and I’ve stopped updating for quite some time now. Probably will resume work during the 1 month break (hehz, another item to the list of things). There are also other things, but I guess I wouldn’t want to list them all here as it’ll probably just lengthen this entry and bore the greater portion of readers out there.

My day ended at 6pm today. Why is it so special, you may ask? Well, I was kinda mentally prepared to stay back to finish up the robot, or rather stay around with the rest of the group members and hopefully contributing something useful. Somehow, most of the coding was completed while I was having my 1231Y lecture. Perhaps Dom and Jon have been working very hard at it while I was having my lecture, so it was decided that we stop doing at 6, just when I returned to our “base” where we did our robot stuff for the day. To be honest, I didn’t contribute much to this PS except that i did most of the building blocks of the lego set, which is obviously something I can handle pretty well, as compared to coding out the right stuff in a reasonable amount of time. And I feel quite bad about it. Oh well, I guess I’ll try to redeem myself tmr when we do “physics experiment” to find out suitable values to throw into the code to make it more accurate.

Just to sidetrack a bit, the quiz scores were released during 1231Y lecture in the form of histograms, and a quick glance at it I realised that I’ll be just around the average mark if I had handed in my script. So was it a good choice? Perhaps so. Then the total score for both quizzes were shown, but of course it’s not really accurate since there are people like me who didn’t hand up at least 1 quiz. At least 2 people didn’t attempt/hand up both quizzes since 2 people got 0 for the score of 2 quizzes, which I think is unlikely to be the case if one has attempted and handed in the script. Looking at the kind of distribution, I wonder if I’m safe or not. Hopefully I can do okay for the finals and get something presentable at the end of it all. Haiz…

And the final thing I wanna write about this time that’s related to 6 - That’d be 6 weeks, which is about how much time till the end of my exams. You could say I’m looking forward to the vacation. Or “vacation” as some of you might want to call it. There’s many things to be done during the month-long break, but before that, there’s a heck load of things in front of me to be cleared/done. I’ve said this so many times, and yet I am here repeating myself AGAIN, which goes to show something I don’t want to spell out. For now I just hope that these 6 weeks will pass quickly. But I’m sure it’ll be rather quick since 9 weeks of the semester (excluding recess week) have already gone by just like that. Not really in a blink of an eye, but yeah, somewhat to that effect.

That’s all for the entry of 6s. Hope you’ve managed to survive reading through all that. =)
