Yah, it’s the first ps3 game that I’ve got my hands on. But of course, I do not own a ps3. People who know me and my circle of friends well enough probably can make an intelligent guess as to who owns this huge (and not so economical) console.
Basically, this game is a Dynasty Warrior style game, only this time the one doing all the hacking and slashing is a Gundam. Personally, I’ve only tried Dynasty Warrior like twice, so yeah I’m quite noob at this game too.
Didn’t play very much; only 4 missions worth, but the game seemed to “hang” after completing mission 4. The game doesn’t load any further, but you can still move the camera angle. Bug or malfunction? I don’t know, and honestly I don’t really have to worry. Anyway it’s actually quite fun lah, just that not understanding all the jap dialogue (and subtitles) makes it hard to figure out the storyline of the game. There are also other modes available for this game, but obviously I’m not able to try out so many things in a couple of hours can I?
There’s a “combo system” for this series of games, and not being well-versed in it is kinda bad, especially when playing 1 player. Good thing I had someone to “cover my back”, or kill the boss before my character died. Lol. As with many PS games, there’s a lot of things to unlock, at least for skills and items, and probably character level. Needs a certain amount of grinding to get the powerful items I guess. (FAQ needed too, but not of my concern.)
Graphics wise, ps3 is indeed a lot better than ps2. However, I wasn’t playing on a HD-ready TV so the resolution is just in plain SD. However, the frame rate is a lot better and smoother than most of the ps2 games I’ve tried out. I can imagine the quality being played on a full HD TV. And of course, the game supports 5.1 audio, but you do need a right setup to be able to enjoy all the goodness of it.
In short, this game should be quite fun to play, especially with an awesome setup. Hopefully I can get to play more PS3 in the future. Hohum.
