Yeah, I’m taking quite a gamble with my 1231 since I decided not to hand up my quiz 2 some hours back. Of course, I’m assuming my final exam will not be a flop and flunk badly. Otherwise, using the Prof’s formula for calculating my quiz 2 score, I should be able to at least obtain a score equivalent to what I would expect of my quiz 2 if I had handed in. Hopefully, my gamble will turn out to be a correct one and not backfire on me, in which I think my grade for this module would be rotten anyway.
Actually, the quiz isn’t all that hard. I believe quite a handful will get 18 and above this time too. I can only blame myself for not going for consultation hours, or revising/study my tutorials and notes hard enough to get certain concepts straight and clear. In fact, I do know what each of the subparts in the quiz asked for. By right, I should start worrying for this module, since now getting something decent seems to be not all that obvious.
Although I’m not as obsessed as some people in wanting to get a First Class or 2nd Upper Honours, I will still at least want to graduate with an Honours, rather than spending 4 years and yet still graduate with only a degree and nothing more. Seeing the many tougher (or as claimed by many others who have taken and finished the module) modules lying ahead sometime in the future for me to tackle, it’s only sensible that my CAP for the first year (which includes this sem duh) should be somewhat safely above 3.0 to allow for some buffer (same rationale for those who are aiming for 1CH or 2UH to have buffer).
Perhaps some of you might find me ridiculous. Worrying about my “target” CAP (though not say very high) and yet still being so slack and not doing much about my academic studies. It’s a mere 50.X days till the end of my exams for this semester (coincidentally, 1231 is my last paper iirc) and there’s still much to rectify (topics supposedly done and dusted) and cover (the upcoming chapters/topics), and of course much to do (projects, tutorials, assignments etc). Is it about time to start my long lost “engine”? Maybe it is.
In other “news”, the average for MA1505 midterm is 7.65. Indeed the average mark is like 8, since it’s impossible to get a non-integer for the test. Even when using a very small sample space of the people I know from engine I kind of guessed that the average is like 8. Haiz, why do such guesses become so zhun. Sighh. I really need to fine tune it to affect things in a positive way (to me of course =P). For those who are above 8 marks, good for you. Those who are a little short of the average, dont be disheartened too much. The crux lies with the final exam (which is on the same day as Scheme. urgh).
The weekend is here, but we all know that it’s not supposed to be fun and play. Well, the keyword is supposed, so yeah, I almost end up cramming my work on Sunday afternoon-night in preparation for the week ahead (actually more like the day ahead). I need to set my priorities right too. Clearing a friday tutorial (well I can go to class with the current amount done) and yet leaving the other 4 tutorials (all on mon or tues) untouched which are the more time consuming ones. Sigh.
Hopefully I can at least catch a movie this weekend or something. Going off now for some relaxation activities. Bye.
p.s. Happy holidays to all those celebrating tmr. Yes, I know my content flow is very problematic (English is getting real rotten.)
