Arcana Heart Full! Combo DVD Trailer

4 10 2007

littleheart.jpgThe Japs are really into such stuff siah, making DVDs showcasing insane (perception) combos of various fighting games. So cool. I’m pretty sure they do have something relevant for RPGs etc.

Anyway, this time is for AH Full’s DVD trailer. I’m not sure there’s a difference to the makers between trailer and promotional video, but I guess they do serve the common purpose of “advertising” and attracting fans/players of the game to buy it when it hits the market (obviously Japan only).

The screen time for each combo is very short and I’m not really able to figure out what each does without having to pause the video often, or watching it several times. I guess there’ll be quite some interesting content (though I can’t read the Jap characters shown in the video). One of which will be those combos that are brought about by special conditions of both players hitting each other, or more specifically the “victim” doing something to break the “executor’s” moves in some kind of precise timing and suitable attack so that the “executor” can “reset” the combo and do more fanciful stuff. Such a technique exists in most fighting games, but usually requires quite some “research” since it requires information about the various moves’ execution time and what it does (in frames), recovery time (in frames) etc. Goes to show that these dudes have at least gone rather in-depth in this seemingly unpopular game (at least here in SG).

Another would be infinites I think. There’s a glimpse of a 363 hit combo (full life damage) by the doll-master (cant’ remember/spell her name off-hand). I thought infinites didn’t really exist in the game due to certain limitations that will eventually “break” your “infinite” loops. Oh well, seems like it’s possible to work around that, though I wonder if it’s only applicable to her since she has an extra “helper” (her doll) which can attack too. I’ll probably never find out unless some kind soul shares some content in the DVD at a later date, or other fans decide to make combo videos to show the (rest of the) world what can be done in the game.

Of course, I’m sure the usual staple of normal combos will also be included in the DVD. Ah well, it’s not like anyone reading my blog will be getting it right? Please let me know if you do get a copy ok? =)

Lastly. for those who want to download a copy (the video quality is great), head over to this Japanese site. I know there are those of you who are lazy, so the Japs are also smart enough to have a YouTube version, which is placed below. Oh, the video is 1m43s so don’t go expecting too much from it ok? =D

p.s. I’m still not looking forward to getting back my Scheme midterm paper tmr at noon. Meanwhile, I think I have to clear some work tonight before it snowballs any further. Sighs. Good luck to everyone who’s studying now too, since it’s a busy time for Uni students and non-tertiary students alike.
