The End is Near

Of course, I’m talking about my recess week. The supposedly very precious 1 week to catch up on school work (mainly preparation for the bloody midterms), repay some sleep debt, and probably find a *little* more time for leisure/entertainment. Apparently, I’m pretty good with the last 2 tasks, and seriously lacking with the task that most people would consider to be the most important one. Been sleeping and waking up late (actually it’s the same as my post-NS, pre-uni days) and more or less carrying out activities as though I’m still waiting for University to start. This is not supposed to be the doing of a University student, not at this time of the year.

I’ve still got like 3 (out of 4 I’m having next week) outstanding tutorials, haven’t touched any material for revision before the Scheme mid-term and that should sound an alarm right? But no, I’m still chatting on msn, counting on winamp (OoOo past few days chiong-ed like mad. LOL) and of course, blogging right here. Ok lah, I seem to have done quite a bit of work for maths, since I did do 3 sets of past year mid-term questions though 1 of them was technically done before recess week started. But, that doesn’t mean I’m gonna be “godlike” for the coming mid-term. Certainly, I did quite well for the 2003 paper, achieving a decent 11/12 but after doing 2004 and 2005’s papers earlier today while tutoring one of my OG mates in his 1301 trigo, I found myself in a pinch, with more careless mistakes and inability to approach some of the questions in a right manner. To be honest, after today, I’m not very confident about the upcoming maths test, which I’m supposed to be much more comfortable than the Scheme one. Sighs, looks like I might get a less than desirable CAP this semester after all.

And so, I have 2 more days to salvage (or choose not to) the situation but chances are I’ll procrastinate (amazingly, i can do it even at this time) and face the music when I actually sit down in the examination venue and face the “music”. I should probably try to look at past year Scheme questions to have a feel on the general difficulty of the paper so as to mentally prepare myself on how bad I will do perhaps. There’s no bell curve to rely on, not that I can rely on it even if it applies to this module since there are godlike scholars in there to “spoil market” anyway. Speaking of which, through Zongyao who’s taking 3108 that my Scheme contest 2 is actually from an ACM question. Like O_O no wonder it’s for those who are too free, since such questions are not meant for any mere mortal to attempt and hope to complete (yes i’m one of the mortals =X). Well, in a way it does not feel so bad not doing it. Haha.

I doubt anyone will be asking me to go out tmr, be it to watch movie or whatever. All confirm stay at home and mug/study/do work etc liao. I need to find my discipline (do I have it in the first place?) and motivation to get down to serious business and not do things like watching shows or winamp count. Hehz. Will tmr be a better day? Shrugs… …

p.s. it seems like friday is my preferred day to post such entries. i just noticed it like now. so wols of me. =( yeah well, either way that means tmr will either have some review or video-sharing session. stay tuned!
