The first movie I watched in a cinema theatre after school has officially started (FOW isn’t the official start) and I must say this is one very great movie. It has everything a great animated movie should have – great animation, nice story, interesting & meaningful dialogue, humour and good pacing/duration.
Before the actual movie started, there’s this short clip by Pixar which zong has shown to me before. I still find it entertaining even though it isn’t the first time I watched that content, and a cinema screen is definitely much better than some streaming video with superior video and audio quality which a well-made animation deserves. So dont be late for your movie if you dont want to miss out on anything.
On to the movie itself, the title is actually a French vegetable dish. You will be able to see the significance of it during the show. Nice title chosen imo, if you’re thinking along similar lines as me. All posters even teach you how you ought to pronounce the word as well =D
Actually, I’m having difficulty finding the right words and phrases to review this awesome piece of animation since I dont really want to make it sound not as good as it should be. The overall feeling is just so good. Haha, I’m just going round in circles. The flow of the story is good. The animation quality and smoothness is also good. Angles are taken care of nicely, movement of the mice is very nicely done. The dialogue is quite interesting too, pay attention to them and you’ll find nice lines every now and then, though I think the kids probably wont get most of them. As usual, they’ve done a great job making the movie enjoyable for both the young, and the not-so-young. =D
The subtitles for this critique named Ego is really weird as it’s 疑狗. Hahahah. Most of the subtitles are fairly okay though listening to the English audio should be sufficient for most of us here.
The ending credits were quite cool as well though I think I do know of people who can do something similar in terms of presentation (video editing) using programmes like Adobe AE but what’s really worth noting is the drawings and graphics integrated into everything. So dont be so anxious to run out of the theatre (for whatever reason) as it’s enjoyable to the very end (ok lah, maybe not the ENTIRE credits lah.).
I give up trying to find the right words to phrase certain things. Go watch it. It’s highly recommended. Definitely worth the time and money in doing so. My take: 8.5/10 (highest on this blog so far).
p.s. Happy Teacher’s Day to all those who are teachers or belong to some kind of permanent teaching staff job position.
