What initially caught my attention of this show wasn’t the anime title, nor the synopsis. Neither was it the opening theme nor the artwork. It was none other than the episode titles I saw on Chinese sites. They were almost all sayings/idioms/proverbs, something that I dont see often. In fact it usually isn’t the episode titles that attract me to any anime. Lol.
Of course, after i started watching this, it wasn’t simply the episode titles. The opening theme is imo nice (esp the chorus) and the use of Chinese musical instrument(s?) can be heard. First of its kind that I’ve seen so far that involved an ancient (is that the right word to use?) Chinese setting. Probably english subtitles for this show wouldnt be as great as those of Chinese subs since certain terminology is best conveyed using Chinese rather than English. Heh.
Content wise, there are meaningful things to it which the episode titles suggest (though not always), not forgetting the comedy element present in most anime series out there. There’s also some politics/schemes involved here and there though it isnt all that heavy, so it’s not going to be boring of anything and in fact it adds colours to the show. The flow is pretty good too, making watching this series an enjoyment. :)
There’s also a 2nd season to this anime series currently airing in Japan now. Is that an indication that this show is worthy enough to be granted a 2nd season? Well, I certainly wouldn’t mind a 2nd season for a show like this. But that’s just me :D
